Shanda Williams became the Parks and Recreation Superintendent for the City of Mountain Brook in October 2013.  She is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the city’s seven parks and trails, the high school athletic complex, the playing fields at the four elementary schools and junior high, and over 106 traffic islands and other parcels of right-of-ways.  She serves as the liaison to the Park Board, Mountain Brook sports organizations, Board of Education, and other civic groups interested in the parks and fields.

Shanda received a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from Auburn University in 1998.  She has since worked in landscape management, including her employment with the City of Birmingham where she maintained Linn Park and other high profile areas.  Before coming to Mountain Brook, she managed the horticulture department for the City of Center Point where she helped develop a 17 acre park and earned their first employee of the year award in 2010.

Shanda is active with the Birmingham Area Municipal Administrators Association where she has served in many positions, including President in 2013.  She is also a member of the Alabama Turfgrass Association, Alabama Urban Forestry Association, Alabama Recreation and Parks Association, National Recreation and Parks Association, and the Alabama Chapter of Women Leading Government.  She also participates in various continuing education classes to stay on top of new regulations and trends.
