Citizen Survey Results

The City received the results of its latest citizen survey on satisfaction with municipal services. The City conducts these surveys every three years with the assistance of the ETC Institute.

The results were again outstanding. Some of the major findings in the survey included:

-Residents have a very positive perception of the City.

-99% are satisfied with the overall quality of life in the City.

-Satisfaction with City Services is 46% higher in Mountain Brook than the national average.

-Mountain Brook rated higher than the U. S. average in all 43 areas contained on the survey.

-Mountain Brook scored significantly higher than the U. S. average in 42 of the 43 areas.

-Communication from the City to citizens were rated 52% above the U. S. average.

-Value received for City tax dollars paid rated 49% above the U. S. average.

-100% of citizens surveyed rated Mountain Brook as an excellent place to live.

-99% rated the City as an excellent place to raise children.

-Mountain Brook rated more than 30% above the national average  in satisfaction with Public Safety.

-In areas of maintenance of roads, parks and city facilities, the City rated  significantly above the national average in 7 out of 8 areas.

-The City government rated more than 25% above the national average in all 4 areas of communications to citizens.

-The City rated more than 25% above the national average in trash and garbage service.

-Mountain Brook scored 84% satisfaction with City leadership compared to an average of 38% in the Southeast and 39% Nationally.

-The satisfaction ratings in 2023 are very similar to the previous three surveys.

-Satisfaction with customer service provided by City employees increased in all 5 areas since the last survey.

Notable increases in the 2023 survey compared to the last survey included:

-Quality of City’s social media

-City employees were courteous and polite

-City employees were easy to contact

-City employees resolved resident’s issues to their satisfaction

-Quality of the City’s webpage

-Top priorities that citizens wanted the city to concentrate on were the flow of traffic and congestion management and maintenance of city streets and facilities.
