Emergency Absentee Voting

The deadline for voting [regular] absentee ballot for the August 23, 2016 City
election expired August 18, 2015 at 5 p.m.

Any registered voter who requires emergency treatment by a licensed physician
within five days of the election may apply for an emergency absentee ballot and
may vote by returning the ballot no later than noon on the day of the election.  
The attending physician must describe and certify the circumstances as constituting
an emergency on a special absentee ballot application.  Sec 17-11-3, Code of Ala. 1975.

In addition, registered voters may vote by emergency absentee ballot if he or she is
required by his or her employer under unforeseen circumstances to be out of the
county on an emergency business trip on election day.  Under such circumstances,
the applicant shall apply for an emergency absentee ballot at the office of the absentee
election manager no later than the close of business day on the day prior to the election.  
The form shall contain an affidavit which the applicant shall sign acknowledging that
he or she was not away of the out of county business requirement prior to five days
before the election.  After voting the ballot at the office of the absentee election manager,
the voter shall hand deliver the ballot to the manager in person.  Sec. 17-11-3, Code of
Ala. 1975.
