Chris Thompson

Lieutenant Chris Thompson has been employed with MBPD for 12 years. Thompson graduated from the University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa with a B.A. of in Criminal Justice in December of 2007. He also completed the Masters of Science in Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama in May of 2009.

Lieutenant Thompson graduated from the Alabama Criminal Justice Training Center (ACJTC) at the Selma Police Academy in  2009. Thompson is a Certified Tactical Operator and has served in all supervisor capacities of the MBPD Tactical Operations Unit, since joining in 2010. Attending basic, advanced, and specialized schools for both Tactical Operations and Crime Scene Investigations, Thompson was promoted to Sergeant in  2017 where he served as a Patrol Sergeant, Training and Hiring Sergeant, and most recently Criminal Investigations Sergeant. 

Lieutenant Thompson assisted in the development of MBPD's Drone Unit Program and is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Remote Pilot for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). Thompson is a member of the Alabama Tactical Officers Association and the National Tactical Officers Association.
