Janet Forbes began her new role as Assistant to the City Manager with the City of Mountain Brook on January 25, 2016. In January 2023, she was given the additional title and responsibility of Public Information Officer (PIO).  In her role, she coordinates many activities, duties and special projects for the City Manager, Mayor, City Council and Department Heads and is the source of most information sent out by the City to our residents.

Janet comes to us from Advance Central Services Southeast (AL.com/The Birmingham News) where she served as Human Resources Assistant. She has received her Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP) designation, completed the Local Government Professional Management certificate program from the Alabama City-County Management Association (ACCMA) and recently completed the Public Information Officer certification.  She serves as the City Hall representative to the City’s Safety Committee and coordinates all safety training for City Hall.  In 2022, Janet was voted Co-City Employee of the Year. 

She is a lifelong resident of Mountain Brook and has been involved in various non-profit associations, schools and church organizations. Janet received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Auburn University in 1985.  She is married with 2 children.
