Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief Jaye Loggins is responsible for the daily operations of the Mountain Brook Police Department.

Deputy Chief Loggins graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a degree in Justice Science in 2001. Loggins will also receive his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University in 2022. Deputy Chief Loggins is a recipient of the FBI LEEDA (Law Enforcement Executive Development Academy) Trilogy Award and is a graduate of FBI L.E.E.D.S. Deputy Chief Loggins has also completed the APSLA (Alabama Public Safety Leadership Academy) and MPACT (The Managers Preparing to Accomplish Change Today) programs.

Since serving in a role of executive leadership of the Agency, the City of Mountain Brook has seen incalculable growth including the assignment of an SRO to every school in the Mountain Brook School System, implementation of the take-home vehicle program, public safety dispatch consolidation, significant upgrades to the communication infrastructure allowing for intercommunication with several law enforcement agencies throughout the State. Deputy Chief Loggins has been critical in improving communication with Mountain Brook residents and supervised the development of the Mountain Brook Police mobile smartphone app. Deputy Chief Loggins also is responsible for establishing more streamlined communication with citizens in creating several of the department's social media handles.

Deputy Chief Loggins graduated from the Alabama Advanced Criminal Justice Academy (AACJA) at the Montgomery Police Department in 1996. Since becoming a member of the force, his leadership and skills have been recognized by the Agency as a tremendous asset - earning him several awards including the rare feat Officer of the Year twice. Deputy Chief Loggins was a longstanding member of the Tactical Operations Unit where he received advanced training at the federal, state, and local level as a Certified Tactical Operator.

Loggins was promoted to supervise the Criminal Investigations Division as rank: Sergeant Detective. While in the Criminal Investigations Division, a record number of crimes, including high profile cases were successfully solved and closed. 

Deputy Chief Loggins has served and supervised in all areas of the department including Captain of the the MBPD; Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, and one of his most recent assignments prior to promotion; Commander of the Administrative Division. 

Deputy Chief Loggins is an active member of the Mountain Brook Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.
