Deputy Chief Carmack

DEPUTY CHIEF JASON CARMACK

Deputy Chief Jason Carmack is the second highest ranking officer in the Mountain Brook Police Department. He was appointed as Deputy Chief by Chief Loggins in the Fall of 2022. Prior to his appointment to the rank of Deputy Chief, he served at the rank of Captain managing the day to day operations of the Department.  He has previously served as the Patrol Division Commander. He has commanded the Tactical Operations Unit, Motor Scout/Traffic Unit, Jail Operations, Animal Control Unit, Community Relations Unit, Honor Guard Unit, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Drone Unit (sUAS).

Deputy Chief Carmack continues to oversee the daily operations of the Agency and reports directly to the Chief of Police. He received his undergraduate degree in Theology from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina in 1993. He also has a Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. 

Deputy Chief Carmack has been employed with the Mountain Brook Police Department since 2001. He is a graduate of the Alabama Advanced Criminal Justice Academy (AACJA) at the Montgomery Police Department. He is a certified Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) Tactical Operator. DC Carmack has received extensive training including SLEDS, MPACT, and APSLA. He is a recipient of the coveted FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award and is currently working towards becoming a Certified Law Enforcement Executive Officer through CLEEP. 

Deputy Chief Carmack is well respected by the community and his colleagues and has been previously recognized as "MBPD's Officer of the Year."
