Mountain Brook Man Charged with DUI, Reckless Endangerment in New Year’s Day Crash

In the weeks following a New Year’s Day vehicle crash that caused significant structural damage to a residence, Mountain Brook Police Detectives conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Their investigation revealed the following:

 

On Monday, January 1, 2024 at approximately 2:30am, Mountain Brook Police Officers responded to a vehicle crash on Azalea Road in which a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a residence. It was determined the vehicle was traveling westbound on Euclid Avenue at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The driver failed to navigate a curve in the road, stuck a curb, and crashed into a residence. No one inside the home was injured. After extricating the entrapped driver, Mountain Brook Fire Department personnel transported him to an area hospital. It was later determined that the driver operated the vehicle under the influence. Wilder Jackson Williams, 24-years-old of Mountain Brook, AL surrendered to the Mountain Brook Police Department on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 on the following charges:

 

Driving Under the Combined Influence of Alcohol and Controlled Substance (32-5A-191.A.4)

Speeding (Article III, Section 50-46 – Mountain Brook Municipal Code)

Improper Lane Usage (32-5A-88)

Reckless Endangerment (13A-6-24)
