Citizen Appreciation Day 2023

At the city's annual Citizen Appreciation Day 2023, the Planning/Building/Environmental Sustainability and Parks/Recreation departments hosted an educational event introducing the newly planted native plant pollinator garden at city hall!  The garden contains 90 native plugs, comprised of 25 plant species.  Each species was highlighted by a garden marker which contained details about the plant, a photo of the plant in bloom, its sun/shade preference, and USA map indicating where the plant was native.

The new city hall solitary bee hotel was also showcased, and there were hands-on backyard bee hotels to handle and learn about.  There was a children's activity table where kids could color and make butterfly and bee masks.  There were plenty of educational resources (handouts, books, and QR codes to on-line articles)... and dandelion tea was served!
